Introducing Japanese Culture Events

「日本文化の紹介」

We are once again hosting more events that highlight unique aspects of Japanese culture for travelers from overseas to deepen their understanding of Japan and encourage them to visit us again.
In January, events will include the lion dance, New Year decorations and koto performances.

  • December 8(Thu) , 9(Fri)Chushingura Procession
    [Schedule for Appearances]
    ①13:00- ②14:30- ③16:00-

     Chushingura (The Treasury of Loyal Retainers) is a popular play in Kabuki and Japanese puppet shows depicting the 47 loyal retainers of the Ako clan, often performed towards the end of the year.
    A procession of this Ako samurai band will be reproduced in the terminal.

  • December 1(Thu) - 31(Sat)Japanese Culture Experience Corner

     Once again, airport users will be able to experience Japanese culture and take souvenir photographs in the popular corner of the passenger terminal.
    December will feature the very popular hands-on Ukiyo-e printing and Mizuhiki accessory making to take home as a souvenir, dressing in kimono and samurai armor, as well as calligraphy, Japanese paper dolls and kite making.
    Events are held every day in the area after outbound passport control.

  • December 6(Tue) - 16(Fri)Bonsai - World's Beautiful Scenery Exhibition -

    Bonsai is a traditional Japanese art form in which the artist reproduces natural landscapes and scenery three-dimensionally on a tray or in a frame. Depending on the angle of perspective, these works create a sense of depth as if you are looking at actual landscapes.
    Please enjoy these portrays of the world's most stunning tourist spots.

    Exclusively on New Year's Day, the staff at the information counters will provide services dressed in colorful kimono, as a gesture of Japanese New Year hospitality.

    As a special New Year event, lion dances, a common feature of a Japanese New Year, will take place in the terminals to wish for the safety and good health of all our customers.
    Airport guests will also have the opportunity take souvenir photographs.
    Place your head in the mouth of the lion for good fortune.

    The theme for the 2017 New Year decorations will focus on relationships and ties expressed by cords and bamboo poles decorated with paper ribbons, gold painted branches and maidama (ball) decorations which will add color to the departure lobbies in the new year.
    The staff at the information counters will also be dressed in colorful kimono on New Year's Day.

    The theme for the 2017 New Year decorations will focus on relationships and ties expressed by cords and bamboo poles decorated with paper ribbons, gold painted branches and maidama (ball) decorations which will add color to the departure lobbies in the new year.

    A live concert of the traditional Japanese musical instrument, the koto, will be staged with the cooperation of the Chiba Prefectural Cultural Promotion Foundation.
    Departing passengers will have the chance to enjoy this Japanese New Year performance, played with unique Japanese sounds.
