Information  Automated External Defibrillators (AED)

At Narita International Airport, automated external defibrillators (AED) are available in the terminals for emergencies.

 AEDs automatically detect the presence or absence of ventricular fibrillation (an abnormal heart rhythm that causes death) from electrocardiograms obtained by attaching electrode pads to the chest of a victim suffering a cardiac arrest and then administers an electric shock if the heart is in ventricular fibrillation.
