| Q1. |
Why do I have to pay Passenger Security Service Charge (PSSC)? |
| A. |
Since the 9/11 US terrorist attacks, Narita Airport has been implementing initiatives in response to increased aviation security levels worldwide so that our customers can feel safe taking their flights.
As part of this drive, we have installed an in-line screening system incorporating explosives detection equipment in our system for carrying customer baggage checked in at the check-in counters which has allowed us to offer a high level of security. The new charge will be introduced in order to maintain this level of security so that our customers can use Narita Airport without apprehension. |

| Q2. |
Why do transit passengers have to pay Passenger Service Facility Charge (PSFC)? |
| A. |
Effort has been made at Narita Airport to improve the area used by passengers waiting to board their flights so that they can spend their waiting time in comfort.
Since these facilities are used by departure and transit passengers alike, we have decided to ask transit passengers to pay PSFC too. |
