Lighters are prohibited on US flights

From 14 Apr.2005 Lighters are prohibited on flights to and from the US and on US carrier flights
As from 14 April 2005, cigarette lighters are now prohibited on flights to and from the US, including Guam and Saipan, and on all flights operated by US carriers.
Please be advised that this will apply on flights outlined below.
Please contact your airline for further information.
 
Flights on which the restriction will apply

Flights by US carriers (including destinations outside the US)
Flights by all carriers flying to and from the US including Guam and Saipan.
Prohibited item:

All lighters containing fuel or not

* Smoking areas in the departure concourses contain cigarette lighters for those who wish to smoke before boarding.
* One lighter is permitted on flights not covered by this ban.
* A small quantity of matches is permitted on all flights
* Lighters that do not contain fuel can be placed inside suitcases and other baggage to be checked in with the airline.

To passengers on US carriers and flights:
  Posters advising passengers of this ban have been put up within the terminals.
