In its role as the Gateway to Japan, Narita airport is delighted to announce the release of the multilingual translation application, NariTra, for passengers arriving from abroad and those traveling overseas.

NAA carried out proving trials in conjunction with the National Institute of Information and Communications Technology (NICT) last fiscal year in preparation for the practical introduction of the system, with the aim of improving its services to foreign visitors to Japan.

The trials have paved the way for this smart phone application, NariTra, which is provided free of charge and may be used by anyone.

NariTra uses a multilingual translation engine developed by NICT. Proper nouns and words related to Narita Airport, the names of tourism locations, station names and product names etc. have been added to the application so that our customers can enjoy more comfortable and convenient travel. The general public is invited to make use of this convenient tool.
