With aircraft movements approaching the capacity of 200,000 flights at Narita Airport and forecasts of further growth in international air transport demand, Narita received requests from both home and abroad to expand its capacity.
On 28 March 2010, therefore, capacity at Narita Airport will finally be raised to 220,000 flights a year. This will herald the launch of direct services to popular destinations in the Middle East such as the United Arab Emirates and Qatar for the first time at Narita, as well as the introduction of new services to Canada (Calgary) and China (Macau)! Additional services will also be introduced to cities that are already being served to offer customers a wider option for their trips and make Narita more convenient for traveling to any part of the world.
