Environment management
We are going through discussions for the realization of environmental measures including "Sustainable NRT 2050," not only in the company but also with stakeholders, and promoting measures in various aspects including information transmission to neighboring regions, alliance with world airports, and the utilization of an environment certification system.
Environmental management system
Further, the Prioritized Issues Working Group (WG) was newly established under the Sustainable NRT 2050 Promotion Committee. There are three Prioritized Issues WGs, namely Aircraft WG, Vehicles WG, and Facilities WG, consisting of persons in charge including the heads of the relevant department or office, in order to promote decarbonization. The working groups work on the resolution of issues through discussions focused on each issue with relevant parties.
In addition, a Regional Environment Committee consisting of academic experts is established as an advisory body to the president, in order to study and investigate important projects, such as the environment management system and environment measures of Narita Airport.
Relation with stakeholders
As a system for environmental promotion in the entire airport, the Sustainable NRT Promotion Council leads the promotion of various activities. The Council is held generally twice a year to report the progress and share information. There was a review of the name and organization of the Council in March 2022. In June 2022, a working group (WG) was established for each initiative to promote discussion on individual themes. Currently, Vehicle Carbon Neutralization WG and Regional Cooperation WG are in action.

Communication with neighboring regions
The Council upholds the management vision of realizing an airport considerate to the environment and coexisting with the region, and ensuring environmental communication with the neighboring region on a continuous basis. In addition to the close cooperation with the person in charge of the neighboring municipalities, we also implement opinions exchange through occasions such as the N arita International Airport Noise Control Measures Committee, municipal councils, meetings to explain to local residents, and regional events.
Communication with society
We are making efforts so that environmental efforts by Narita Airport are widely recognized not only among the residents of the regions near the airport but also widely among the general public. We are explaining environmental measures taken at Narita Airport through various occasions including environmental education for children who will inherit the future, and participation in environmental exhibitions. We are also participating in environment-related academic societies in areas such as noise and air, and exchanging information on the latest trends.
Communication in Japan and abroad
We believe that airports in Japan and abroad can unite their efforts and address common issues, which will lead to the resolution of global airport environment problems. In Japan, we will reinforce cooperation with major international airports. With airports abroad, in the context that international efforts against global warming are progressing, such as the establishment of an ACI Regional Environment Committee, and the Paris Agreement, which is an international framework for greenhouse gas emissions reduction, coming into effect in November 2016, we are utilizing the Airports Council International (ACI), which is an international organization with the membership of airport management organizations, to exchange opinions and information through personnel interchange.
Obtaining airport carbon certificate
We are participating in the Airport Carbon Accreditation program. We were accredited as Level 3 in November 2018 for the first time as an airport in Japan, and are continuously renewing the accreditation of Level 3.
