Environment

Policy

As a hub airport of the aviation network, Narita International Airport will contribute to the establishment of a sustainable aviation industry by reinforcing its international coalition. We aim for realizing both the reduction of environmental impact and the establishment of an aviation network, and promote the creation of a sustainable airport for the realization of sustainable society in the future.

Climate change initiatives

Narita International Airport is setting reduction goals not only for the company but also as the entire airport. We will promote various measures for achieving the goal together with our stakeholders. We will also work on with new, think-outside-the-box initiatives, while also conforming to the government policy.

Environmental conservation activities

We are working on initiatives to reduce the impact on the global environment. We are promoting resources recycling through the reuse and effective utilization of waste and construction waste discharged through airport operation, plastic products used in retail businesses, and water resources used in facilities and by customers.

Environment management

Aiming for the realization of environmental measures including "Sustainable NRT 2050," we are working on the establishment of a promotion system, formulation of action guidelines, information transmission to neighboring regions, alliance with airports in Japan and abroad, and the utilization of an environment certification system.

Community environment initiatives

Because Narita International Airport is a large-scale inland airport, we consider the impact of construction and operation on the environment surrounding the airport as an important issue, and put effort into reducing the impact. In particular, we are focusing on efforts such as measures against aircraft noise, preservation of air and water quality, and maintaining biodiversity.
