Details of airport notificationAttention: Notice Concerning Prohibition of Flying Drones In or Around the Airport
The Act on Prohibition of Flight of Drones Around and Over Key Facilities was amended on 24 June 2020 and Narita International Airport was designated as an airport where the operation of drones is prohibited on 15 July in accordance with the amended Act.
Effective on 22 July, the operation of drones, regardless of size of weight, in airspace in the vicinity of Narita International Airport (the area within a contour extending approximately 300 meters from the airport perimeter) is prohibited without approval from Narita International Airport Corporation and prior notification submitted to the Prefectural Public Safety Commission and other authorities as required.
Operation of a drone in violation of the Act may be subject to an expulsion order served by the Police as well as steps to place an embargo on said flight. Further, a prison sentence of up to 12 months and a fine up to 500,000 yen may be imposed.
Further, bringing a drone into the airport without just cause is prohibited under the Narita International Airport Administrative Regulations.
Should you witness a drone in flight or a person attempting to fly a drone in or around the airport, you are asked to report this to the police (110) immediately.
