Tactile Walking Surface Indicators(TWSI)

Each terminal at Narita Airport is equipped with Tactile Walking Surface Indicators (TWSI) in accordance with the following standards to support visually impaired individuals in moving safely and smoothly. Please check in advance, along with the transportation options to Narita Airport, before you come.

Departure

After arriving at Narita Airport, please use the TWSI to go to the nearest information counter.

Airport staff will guide you from the information counter to the check-in counter, and then airline staff will guide you from the check in counter to the boarding gate.

To reach the information counter, we have installed the TWSI following the route below.

  • If you are coming by train... From the ticket gate exit of the station to the nearest information counter.
  • If you are coming by car or taxi... From the general vehicle lane and the accessible drop-off and pick-up zone, cross the pedestrian crossing and proceed to the nearest information counter in the departure lobby.
  • If you are coming by bus... From the bus stop in front of the terminal to the nearest information counter in the departure lobby.

*If you are coming by car or taxi, you will need to cross the pedestrian crossing. An intercom is installed at the accessible drop-off and pick-up zone, so please use it if you need assistance crossing the pedestrian crossing.

*If you are coming by bus, the TWSI laid outside the terminal leads directly to the nearest information counter with just one branch split.

Please check the direction to follow on the TWSI with the driver when getting off the bus. If you end up going in a different direction from the information counter, please turn back.

Arrival

Airline staff also offer assistance from the arrival gate to the baggage claim area on arriving at Narita. From there, an airport staff will be on hand to help you from the Customs area to the arrival lobby information counter.

Please feel free to ask for assistance if you require an attendant to guide you from the information counter to the railway stations or to the pick up and set down zones outside.
