Tactile Walking Surface Indicators(TWSI)

Each terminal is equipped with guidance blocks for visually impaired people to help them move safely and smoothly.

At Narita Airport, we have installed guidance blocks for the visually impaired in accordance with the following standards, so please check them before coming.

Departure

After arriving at Narita Airport, please use the visually impaired guidance block to go to the nearest information counter.

Airport staff will guide you from the information counter to the check-in counter, and then airline staff will guide you from th e check in counter to the boarding gate.

To reach the information counter, we have installed blocks to guide the visually impaired following the route below.

  • If coming by train... From the station to the nearest information counter (in the underground concourse).
  • If you are coming by car or taxi... From the general vehicle lane and the boarding area for people with disabilities in front of the terminal, go to the nearest information counter in the departure lobby.
  • If you are coming by bus... From the bus stop in front of the terminal to the nearest information counter in the departure lobby.

*In addition to creating a route that avoids branching and merging as much as possible, in consideration of safety when going through, we basically guide passengers on the curbside (outside the terminal) side, where the risk of collision is low.

*We have set up linear blocks along the route from the boarding/disembarking area to the nearest information counter, so if you end up going in a direction different from the information counter, we will set up dotted blocks at the end of the route.

If you are coming by bus, please check with the bus company staff in advance which direction the linear blocks will take.

Arrival

Airline staff also offer assistance from the arrival gate to the baggage claim area on arriving at Narita. From there, an airport staff will be on hand to help you from the Customs area to the arrival lobby information counter.

Please feel free to ask for assistance if you require an attendant to guide you from the information counter to the railway stations or to the pick up and set down zones outside.
