Founded in 1869 (Meiji 2), Kimuraya Sohonten created the original Sakadane Anpan in 1874 (Meiji 7). The following year, it presented its famous Sakura Anpan to Emperor Meiji. Since then, anpan has been enjoyed as a symbol of Japan's modernization and has become a beloved specialty of Ginza.
